Tech Crew for the plays at HB often help with the following jobs:
-- Organizing, creating and painting Sets for the play -- Managing Props for the shows -- Running Lights and Sound/microphones for the productions -- Designing and creating character Makeup and Hair styles -- Designing and creating Costumes -- Changing scenery during the show -- Special Effects -- Designing and Creating promotional posters to be hung around school -- Ushering for performances: handing out programs and helping audience members find their seats ALL students applying for a position on Tech Crew must fill out a Tech Crew Form and turn it in to Ms. Moriarty by the due date. Paper copies can be picked up outside the theatre classroom, or downloaded at the bottom of this page. Late forms will not be accepted. Tech Crew is a fun job but also requires a lot of responsibility - just like being an actor. In addition, being a member of tech crew requires the ability to work independently, be organized, and pay close attention to detail. Members of Tech Crew will usually come to a few rehearsals early on (Tech Tuesdays for the fall musical), then start coming to all rehearsals during the last four weeks before the performances. Tech Crew (lights, sound, backstage, hair and makeup) will be required for all mandatory rehearsals listed on the Rehearsal Calendar. Costume Crew has a different schedule, and meets weekly based on student conflicts. Advertising Crew meets just one day about 2 weeks before the performances Ushers are only needed at the performances! 8th graders who have done tech crew before may be considered for the role of Stage Manager. It's a big job! They are in charge of backstage crew and making sure the show runs smoothly. Stage managers need to be student leaders with past experience on tech crew. Select 6th and 7th graders who are interested in learning specifics of the responsibilities of the Stage Manager may be considered for an Assistant Stage Manager position. Stage Managers will work closely with 9th grade Stage Managers to ensure the show runs smoothly. This job is being updated and revamped this year with much more responsibility involved. |
NEW Tech Tuesdays for the Fall Musical! Students on tech crew will have designated rehearsal time to begin learning the skills needed for various jobs on Tech Crew. For example, we'll discover how to design elements of a show, practice our hair/makeup designs, research sound effects, organize costumes, paint sets, build props, etc. Different weeks will have a "focus" so students on each crew will know if their element (sound, sets, makeup, etc.) is being worked on that week.
