Blues Developments
In the 20th century (1900-1999) everything changed drastically. Cars replaced horses. Rockets brought humans to the moon. Music changed quite a bit as well. None of the main styles of music (Jazz, Country, Rock, Rap) existed in 1900. As The Blues spread across the country, it changed with the setting and the times.
Country:
Country music originated in the Nashville area of Tennessee. Musicians that lived in the Appalachian Mountains around Nashville began playing the Blues, but it turned out slightly different. Listen below:

Jazz:
We are going to study Jazz next term. The quick story is that New Orleans musicians (who generally had quite a bit of technique) began playing the Blues on their Trumpets, Clarinets, and Trombones.
Rhythm and Blues (R&B):
Basic Definition: Blues with some faster rhythms and a faster tempo for people to dance. Popular in cities.
Rock 'n Roll
Basically R&B with a bit of Country and Jazz and Gospel.
Blues Rock / Heavy Metal
Blues injected Rock Music in the 1960s. The Rolling Stones. The Yardbirds. The Who. Jimi Hendrix. Eric Clapton. Cream. Mike Bloomfield. Led Zeppelin started slowing the tempo, and extending guitar solos, and increasing the energy to create a heavier style.
